Welcome to Bridgeport Athletics: Home of CrossFit Bridgeport! Our goal is to provide you with the best training, in the best facility, in the best location in all of Bridgeport. CrossFit is endlessly scalable to accommodate ALL levels of athletes in the same class.
Think of the hour as a group personal training time. Your coach is there to lead you through each element, keep you safe, motivated and having fun. Being in good company with several other like-minded folks just adds to the positive and motivating experience. Never feel life you would slow the hour down or aren’t “in-shape enough”. This is a very common fear and we promise you everyone has a first day. We are here to listen to your goals, your concerns and get you on a path to health and self-confidence.
WHAT DOES THE HOUR INVOLVE?
We are confident and comfortable with taking clients through our one hour long class that consists of a warmup, skill/technique session and/or a strength session and then ends with a cardio/conditioning workout.
WARMUP Example: rowing, jump rope, jogging and any movement to get the blood pumping and joints ready.
SKILL Example: pullups. A new person might simply work on ring rows while an advanced person could work on various strict, banded or kipping pullup techniques.
STRENGTH Example: deadlift. Again a new athlete may just work on lifting a very light weight or a less technique driven object like a light medicine ball. An experienced lifter might load the bar to their experience level and work on a very specific series of sets and reps.
CARDIO Example: conditioning workout, aka the MET CON or the WOD(workout of the day) we might do something like this:
3 rounds for time:
500 meter row(approx. 2 mins on rowing machine)
20 pushups(sub: knee pushups or plank variations)
10 pullups(sub: ring rows).
So again, any level can complete this WOD. We can vary the movement, vary the load, vary the reps in order to make it appropriate for whatever level you may be.
